xtn’s weekend FAQ

Q. Did you audition for Australian Idol over the weekend?
A. NO, I did not. I had heard that I would have had to camp out a day or two earlier and I’m too lazy and it’s too cold to be doing something like that.

Q. But were you seriously planning to?
A. YES, I did. I would’ve loved to meet Dicko.

Q. No, seriously, were you really planning on auditioning?
A. YES.

Q. Did you think you would go far in the competition?
A. YES. As Marcia might say, I have a gift. I can take a song and make it my own. My voice isn’t so much a voice as an instrument. And I am much better-looking than Arnott from Popstars Live.

Q. No, seriously, did you think you’d go far in the competition?
A. OK, fine. NO, I did not. That’s probably part of the reason why I didn’t end up going. If I really thought I could crack the top 40, I’d camp out 3 days if that’s what it took. But seeing as I was gonna go ‘just for the experience’, it really wasn’t worth the hassle.

Q. So what did you do instead?
A. I’m glad you asked. On Saturday morning, at 6am, I had to drive up to Asquith Girls High for a Science Teacher’s conference. We were there until 3pm trying to sell our company’s books. It was basically a whole day of sitting around and talking to old people about high school text books. I got so tired since I stayed up rather late the night before. Maybe I should've camped out for Idol after all...

Q. Before your long drive, did you consume breakfast foods that had a low glycemic index to help you through the day?
A. NO. But I wish I did. I didn’t eat before the drive. I may have swallowed some toothpaste and water. But that’s about it.

Q. At the conference, did you see or touch any monkeys?
A. NO, unfortunately.

Q. What else did you do?
A. A somewhat unplanned dinner on Friday, and another somewhat unplanned dinner on Saturday, which was interesting but I don’t think I should talk about that here. On Sunday I played basketball, then bought a CD and at night I made okonomiyaki for my family.

Q. What aren’t you telling us?
A. Nothing. Sleep?

Q. OK, we’ll cut to the chase. How many hours of karaoke did you do over the weekend?
A. 3 *sigh*

Q. What CD did you buy and was it good?
A. Ben Kweller’s new one. And yes, I’ve been listening to it non-stop.

Q. Doesn’t it get in the way when you’re trying to sleep?
A. Well not literally ‘non-stop’ but you get the idea.

Q. Did you win in basketball?
A. YES we did. It was a rather easy win.

Q. Are you feeling much better since your last blog entry?
A. Well not really. But I get by. Thank you for asking though.

Q. So are you really that wonderful a person as you make yourself out to be?
A. YES, I am. If you haven’t met me yet, you really should. I’m great!

Q. Was that last question really a ‘Frequently Asked Question’?
A. Only by me.
